Flexography, also known as “flexo,” is a printing process which employs the use of pliable relief or raised image plates. As opposed to the rotogravure printing process (known today as “gravure”) which utilizes etched metal cylinders, flexo label printing utilizes rubber or polymer plastic plates; thus flexo plates are both more flexible and less expensive to produce than gravure’s rigid metal tubes.
Flexo can be used to print on nearly any substrate whether its paper products, metallic or holographic films and foils, or plastic of all types. Companies often use Flexo to print large areas with solid colors. Another reason flexo is so widely used is that it adapts well to both irregular repeat lengths and to a comprehensive array of inks.

Our recycLABEL® products have approvals from both the APR (Association of Plastic Recyclers) and EPBP (European PET Bottle Platform) as a solution to this issue. The label material floats during the separation step, and the ink remains adhered to the substrate (no discoloration of the wash water and residual ink removal does not stain the PET flake). Multi-Color Corporation is one of the only printers with both shrink sleeve and pressure sensitive recycling compatible options for PET.
This is a specific type of ink manufactured to change color depending on temperature. The ink can be clear and turn colorful with an increase or drop in temperature, or it can start out one color and change into another as temperature changes. This can be used to visually display the optimal temperature for consumption of the product, or it can be a creative way to surprise and delight the consumer.
