The idea for the label series was born when Luigi Vico discovered his love for the love for Ryta Barbero (also known as Purpleryta)’s artistic work, in which she literally “paints with wine”. As an artist herself having worked in the wine scene, it has become her alternative approach of wine communication.

All 5 labels were drawn using the individual wine from each bottle and at the same time, depicting each name in the appropriate Latin term. Her techniques, varying from drops of wine to paper through to using her paintbrush for more precise results, characterize each wines’ style. For her original paintings, Purpleryta uses a natural, acid free and 100% cottoned paper, which presents the wine colors perfectly.

“These labels are so original, as are the wines in my range” the owner, Luigi Vico said. “They speak for the wine more than any regular label ever could. The color of each wine is visual even before the bottle has been opened, making it possible to appreciate the full color palette of the range.”

The main aim was to obtain the same effects of the wine artwork and natural paper on the labels too. We needed an experienced partner able to advise us on not only the choice of natural papers but also, to perfectly reproduce the original images. MCC Italy turned out to be the best partner for this and the teamwork was amazing.
