Most recently its maiden pink sparkling, CHAFOR Vintage Rosé, was awarded a much-coveted 91 Parker points from The Wine Advocate and described as ‘perfect for Summer … with a crystal-clear, beautiful salmon pink hue’ by Susie Barrie MW of BBC Saturday Kitchen and Winchester Wine School fame.

The strongly iconic stags heads logo draws its inspiration from the wine estate’s location on terroir which once formed part of the ancient Royal Hunting Forest of Bernwood and on which the first vines were planted in 2003.

The team at Multi-Color Daventry have been a true inspiration and fantastic support, right from the outset, with tons of wine trade experience and advice together with a real can-do attitude” says Tim Chafor, owner and wine grower.  “Our artworker Dom Smith has worked tirelessly with our branding team to devise a series of print innovations and intricate details on our silken labels and we frequently receive compliments from both trade buyers and consumers alike.”

Bespoke finishes and tactile qualities are evident across the range of still and sparkling wines including the alluring, pearlescent sheen of the spot cream wash overprints on the substrate; the embossed glass-like finish on the ‘Stags Heads’ (achieved through innovative high-build screen varnish layering techniques); to the ‘wet-look’ silk screen process on the Tim Chafor signature, such that the personal endorsement of the wine grower appears to have been freshly-penned with deep inky blackness.

Meticulous attention to detail and minimum intervention lie at the heart of Tim Chafor’s winemaking philosophy, with hand-harvesting by a dedicated team of local volunteer pickers. The estate also puts on an active programme of events and tours throughout the summer months with the mezzanine area of the winery set out as an art gallery plus lakeside picnics, nature trails, wood-fired pizza and giant paella nights bringing all ages of the local community together.

CHAFOR Vintage Cuvée is made in the traditional method, aged on the lees for 24 months and is ideal for drinking now.  It pairs brilliantly with crab, oysters and tempura prawns and exhibits a fine mousse with prolonged undertones of honeyed fig, baked apple and toasted brioche.

CHAFOR wines are currently listed in Waitrose and The Telegraph Wine Club and served by the glass at some of the finest local dining establishments in the region including Nelson Street Restaurant and Whittlebury Hall Hotel & Spa, where the F1 drivers wine and dine during Grand Prix season.  The estate also actively supports the local retailers too, with the full range of award-winning still whites, rosés and sparkling wines available on shelf at Buckingham Garden Centre and The Shop at North Marston.
