Alkimi strives to make memorable wines, and for Alkimi the most memorable wines are those that have a distinct personality; personality not only of the provenance and vintage, but also of the people who helped make them.
Duncan McDade was commissioned to create the Burgundy range. The inspiration for working with Duncan came from his online visual work, which featured bright colours and interesting designs.
Duncan used vibrant colours, but also layered in stories of alchemical transformations that echoed the shapes of the Yarra Valley. He designed a colourful bunch of grapes, as seen on the back labels, and using automated 2D motion, the grapes crashed and moulded together to create designs that were then transposed as artwork. Bright White Felt paper was chosen to give the labels a canvas feel, with embossed pearl foil to enhance the Alkimi brand.
