La Coume del Mas is a small premium estate of 14 hectares in the communes of Banyuls and Collioure. Its geographical location between sea and mountain, its schist terroir, its subsoil, its sometimes vertiginous slopes that make mechanization impossible and man’s intervention decisive, make this estate one of the last original witnesses to this heroic mountain viticulture. Each cuvée, each bottle reflects the adventure and hard work of all those involved in creating these precious wines, guided by respect for the terroir and the quest for sustainable agriculture.
Nathalie and Philippe Gard, who run the estate with passion, wanted to create a confidential, top-of-the-range cuvée made from Solera (a blend of several vintages) of non-vintage Grenache grapes. The label design for this micro-cuvée, in a niche market, had to convey an image that was at once simple, ultra-qualitative and original.
The creative challenge, carried out jointly by Nathalie Gard and Greg (graphic designer MCC Design), was orchestrated by ROLAND HEUGEBAERT, sales ambassador for MCC Méditerranée. The sober, elegant line drawing connotes the fusion between man and his environment, his self-sacrifice and determination to create a precious wine. Just like the bees that work tirelessly to produce their nectar, and whose role is crucial in preserving the environment.
