Some brands are created from an idea. Others are discovered.

For Lost Penny Wines, the inspiration came directly from the vineyard itself. While working the property, owners Nick and Carol began uncovering old coins scattered across the block, small reminders of a time when the local community would gather, share wine, and celebrate together.

The story traces back to the late 1800s, when the property’s original homestead served as a meeting place for the region’s close-knit German community. As stories were shared and glasses were raised, a few coins were inevitably lost among the vines, waiting to be found generations later.

The 1891 Penny label pays tribute to the first coin discovered on the property, an 1891 British penny, dating back to a time before Australia had its own currency. Printed on copper-toned Heavy Metal stock, the label reflects the character and history of the original coin.

Alongside it, the Black Label takes a more restrained approach. Designed around the philosophy that less can be more, it delivers a clean and confident expression while remaining true to the wider Lost Penny identity.

Produced using a combination of digital and offset printing, the labels are enhanced with embossing, screen finishes, and foil detailing to create texture, depth, and premium shelf appeal.

The result is a collection that honours the stories buried beneath the vineyard while bringing them to life for a new generation of wine lovers.
