Introduction

Allie’s Pressed Juices recently underwent a transformative rebrand, moving from adhesive labels to shrink sleeves for their range of cold-pressed juices. This change not only elevated the brand’s market positioning but also embraced sustainability by using recycled PET (rPET) shrink sleeves. By ensuring brand consistency and designing with the consumer in mind, the new packaging supports efficient recycling and disposal.

Solution

Shrink sleeves provide a full-body branding solution, offering 360-degree communication space. The artwork is printed on the inside of the sleeve, ensuring durability and resistance to scuffing and fading. Key benefits of shrink sleeves include:

  • Tamper-evident features such as seals and neck bands.
  • Versatility to fit both standard and uniquely shaped containers.
  • Compatibility with a variety of markets, including beverages.

The sleeves for Allie’s Pressed Juices were printed on rPET shrink film containing 30% post-industrial waste (PIW). Designed for easy recycling, they include a zipper perforation to simplify sleeve removal, allowing the PET bottle to be responsibly recycled through kerbside programs. The rPET material itself can be separately recycled through Australia’s REDcycle program. This innovative approach aligns with the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation’s 2025 National Packaging Targets, making it a sustainable choice for the brand.

Process Overview

The journey from concept to execution involved:

  • Collaborative Design Development:
    • Our Business Development Manager worked with Allie’s team to create templates tailored to PET bottle shapes and the shrink tunnel process.
    • Mila Katagarova designed the visually striking sleeves, incorporating gold foil details for elements like the ‘Allie’s’ logo and tagline, ‘Simple Ingredients. Sublime Juice.’
  • Technical Innovations:
    • White ink was applied to enhance the opacity of key design elements, including the barcode and the Australian Made, Australian Grown panel.
    • Advanced prepress processes ensured that high-shrink areas were avoided in the artwork placement. Sophisticated software simulated container warping to predict distortion and maintain design integrity.
  • Sustainable Production:
    • The shrink sleeves were printed using flexographic printing technology at the Brisbane facility. This method employs raised image plates for each color, delivering high-quality results ideal for medium to long runs.

Result

The rebrand has repositioned Allie’s Pressed Juices as a premium beverage in the market. The addition of gold foil accents elevates the product’s shelf appeal, ensuring it captures consumer attention. The combination of sustainable materials and exceptional design showcases the brand’s commitment to quality and environmental responsibility.
