Tantalus Estate sought to create a wine label that would reflect their rich heritage and the breathtaking landscapes that inspire their craft. This label was designed for an exceptional wine from an outstanding vintage, carefully aged for 24 months in premium oak barriques—deserving of a bespoke label that honours its provenance. Tantalus envisioned an understated yet premium aesthetic, featuring a weathered gold texture and the symbolic keys that hold significance in the estate’s history. The design takes inspiration from the ‘Tantalus’—an ornate antique case crafted to secure crystal decanters under lock and key, safeguarding the treasures within while displaying their allure.

MCC worked closely with Tantalus Estate to bring this vision to life, utilising an innovative metallic process called MetPrem (metallic premium). This method creates a weathered matt metallic base, offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional foil while achieving a luxurious finish. Printed on Bright White Felt textured stock, the label provides a tactile experience that contrasts beautifully with bright gold foil and debossing, reinforcing the brand’s historical depth. The result is a design that captures the essence of aged metal while maintaining elegance and prestige, ensuring this remarkable vintage stands apart.
